The life of a young Frankfort woman is being honored through the creation of a Foundation established in her name to help others. Lyndsey Whittingham, age 23, of Frankfort, Illinois, died on October 28, 2006 from injuries sustained when she was struck by a taxi in Chicago. The Lyndsey Whittingham Foundation provides scholarships and contributes to charities in memory of Lyndsey.

She also graduated from Marian Catholic High School where she was a Class Officer for all four years and participated in sports and cheerleading. Lyndsey earned her Bachelors Degree in Biology from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. While in high school and college, she participated in many fundraising drives for various charities.
The daughter of Dr. Raymond Whittingham and Betsy Whittingham, she was the younger sister of Joe (wife Ana) and Kevin Whittingham (wife Colleen.) Known for her outgoing personality and caring heart, Lyndsey had an abundance of friends. She was with many of them when the incident occurred. The young adults, many of whom were students or former students of John Carroll University, met in Chicago to spend time together over the weekend.

Lyndsey was a Sales Representative for Fisher Scientific in Hanover Park. She was a strong believer in the Organ Donation Program and had signed the back of her drivers license stating that she wanted her organs to be donated. In keeping with her caring and giving nature, her family granted her wish to donate her organs to help others.
